For too many families in the City of Lawrence, teenage pregnancy is an entrenched cycle that repeats generation after generation. Research shows that the population at greatest risk for becoming pregnant during adolescence are the siblings of pregnant and parenting teens. Family Services' “Sibs Program” works to break that cycle.
Based on the science based “California Siblings Pregnancy Prevention Program”, Sibs engages siblings of pregnant and parent teens, and other high risk teens, in individual case management activities and group programs that give them the knowledge and skills to stay on track toward achievement in school and future success.
The Sibs Program also facilitates a Peer Leadership Council.
To be eligible, young people must be between the ages of 11 - 18 and live in Lawrence, MA. They also must be the sibling of a pregnant/parenting teen.
