Samaritans Training Registration
Family Services’ Samaritans of Merrimack Valley will be conducting FREE Virtual Suicide Prevention Training sessions this spring. More information on each training and registration links can be found below.
Middle Age Adults and Suicide: The Gender Paradox
This training is designed with mental health professionals in mind, all those in a position to help middle-aged adults will benefit from this training.
Participants will learn:
- statistics specific to middle-aged adults (ages 45-64)
- gender differences for suicide and depression
- risk factors, protective factors, and warning signs
- how to ask questions about suicide risk how to develop a safety plan
- about reducing access to lethal means

Monday, April 18, 9:00 – 11:00 am. REGISTER
Tuesday, April 26, 3:00 – 5:00 pm. REGISTER
Thursday, May 12, 1:00 – 3:00 pm. REGISTER
Suicide and Aging: Fact or Fiction
This training is designed for “gatekeepers” who through their personal, professional, or volunteer opportunities have regular contact with older adults.
Participants will learn:
- statistics specific to older adults (ages 65+)
- misperceptions around aging, mental health, and suicide
- risk factors, protective factors, and warning signs
- questions to ask an older adult who may be at risk for suicide
- a non-clinical assessment of suicide risk

Wednesday, April 13, 1:00 – 3:00 pm. REGISTER
Monday, May 2, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. REGISTER
Tuesday, May 24, 2:00 – 4:00 pm. REGISTER
