Youth Development Summer Camp

ABOUT

Family Services’ Youth Development Summer Camp is a FREE 2-week program for Lawrence youth ages 11-18 that is aimed towards improving intrapersonal skills and increasing reproductive health awareness. After finishing the program, participants will receive two $20 gift cards!

Transportation, meals, and snacks will be provided.

PROGRAM SCHEDULE

The program will run from Monday through Friday:

  • Monday: 12:00 – 3:00pm
  • Tuesday: 12:00 – 3:00pm
  • Wednesday: 12:00 – 3:00pm
  • Thursday: 12:00 – 3:00pm
  • Friday: Schedule will vary based on field trip locations. Please check with staff for most up-to-date hours.

Drop-off from Monday through Thursday is from 11:00am – 12:00pm and pick-up is from 3:00 – 4:00pm.

Week 1: ARISE

During week 1, youth will participate in the Life Skills Lessons & Curriculum (ARISE). ARISE provides evidence-based lessons and activities that help improve youth communication and interpersonal skills. During week 1, participants will engage in lesson topics that will help them deal with daily life events and challenges. After participating in ARISE, youth acquire a new sense of well-being, are engaged in learning, and motivated to make positive changes in their lives. Week 1 will end with a field trip on Friday!

  • Anger management
  • Domestic and sexual abuse
  • Dropout prevention
  • Gang prevention
  • Substance abuse
  • Violence and conflict

Week 2: PREP

During week 2, youth will participate in the Massachusetts Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP). This program aims to increase positive reproductive health outcomes and life opportunities for youth through sexual health and adulthood preparation education. Participants will receive high quality, inclusive, age-appropriate, and medically accurate comprehensive sexuality education. At the end of week 2, participants will go on a field trip on Friday!

  • Personal + community values exploration
  • Adulthood preparation
