Parent Education

Raising children has moments of joy and challenge for everyone. Family Services’ parent education programs are designed to give parents the knowledge, skills, and support they need to navigate the challenges, raise healthy children, and care for themselves amidst all the challenges that may arise. 

Strengthening Couples Program

Family Services’ Strengthening Couples Program (SCP) is a group curriculum along with case management services for couples raising children in Greater Lawrence, MA. The 6-week program focuses on building healthy relationships between parents to improve family functioning, parent-child interactions, and economic stability. Weekly topics include: communication, understanding differences, conflict resolution, managing anger, parenting together, and family finances. Childcare, transportation, and dinner are provided to couples participating in the program.

Young Parents Program

Family Services supports young parents (up to age 24) from the Greater Lawrence area with individual support, case management, and group workshops to help parents of all genders raise healthy children while pursuing their personal, academic, and career goals. The goal of the program is to collaborate with parents to prevent a second pregnancy during adolescence, ensure young parents pursue an education, move toward self-sufficiency, and have the skills to care for their children and themselves.

Family & Community Resource Center

The Family & Community Resource Center (FCRC) provides a host of programs for families in Greater Lawrence with children ages birth to age 18 at 1 Union Street, Suite #104, in Lawrence.

The FCRC also have specific services for families with children who may be frequently absent or have serious problems at school, at home, or have run away from home, or being exploited. Current offerings include the following services, groups and curricula: Parenting in America, Active Parenting, Active Parenting Teen, Parents Helping Parents, teen support groups, children’s play groups, resource and referrals, access to basic resources.
